Power Generation Versus Wind Speed

Lucid is currently developing its first commercial wind generation system. The GHT used for each individual unit is 3.25 meters in diameter and 6 meters in height. Each complete unit will weigh approximately 1000 kilograms and will have a footprint of at least 4 meters square. These systems are intended for installation on large, flat roofs.

Expected wind velocity is the most important factor to consider when evaluating a site. As seen in the graph, the majority of power generation occurs during less frequent times of higher wind speeds. Understanding your site's wind resource is the first step to projecting power generation.
