a world where energy consumption grows faster than population there is a need for sustainable electricity generation.  The growing gap between energy supply and
demand is simply not sustainable. What is needed is a method of energy generation that
supplies electricity when and where it is needed.
Historically, the world has attempted to respond to the demand for
electricity by adding electrical lines from a large centralized power
plant. This is not feasible when an area is particularly remote or has
energy needs that exceed the capacities of the electric lines supplying
them.
