Gregg Semler

President and CEO

Gregg Semler, President and CEO, is a veteran leader in the clean energy sector, operating clean technology companies since 2000, including being the first CEO of ClearEdge Power and then recently starting the venture capital firm, Pivotal Investments. Gregg is an entrepreneurial leader with significant operating experience. He combines exceptional vision with an outstanding record of creating and implementing business & financing strategies. He’s identified and secured strategic partners and investors; set the strategic course and direction of commercializing products into the energy markets; and successfully secured nearly $100 million in private equity. Gregg earned his MBA from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College and his BA from Columbia College in New York City.

Josh Kanagy

Director of Business Development

Josh Kanagy, Director of Business Development, has been with Lucid Energy for two years. Josh is the face of Lucid to the company’s customers and channel partners. In this role, he works alongside the sales force at Northwest Pipe, with the business development and technical teams of various channel partners, and our strategic allies. Josh is a frequent presenter at national water works conferences and has provided testimony to local legislative bodies in support of in-conduit hydropower. Before joining Lucid, Josh spent 14 years developing and executing strategies for growth, recruiting and building sales teams, and driving market share expansion in B2B sales, marketing and business management roles. His professional experience is primarily with start-up companies focused on sustainability. He earned a BA from Purdue University.

 

Terry Smith

Vice President of Engineering

Terry is a seasoned product development leader with a very strong background in developing high volume renewable energy systems. He has more than 20 years of experience focused in engineering management, new product development and project management in the alternative energy and aerospace industries. His experience has spanned R&D activities, new product design and production programs.
Prior to Lucid Energy, Terry was at Infinia for 8 years, where he led the engineering team’s design and development of a small scale, grid connected renewable energy product. Infinia’s system is the world’s first Stirling-based solar power generation system suitable for automotive scale manufacturing and scalable from kWs to multi-MWs deployed in utility-scale solar power plants. Prior to Infinia, Terry spent 16 years at Boeing, where he successfully led teams of engineers, scientists, manufacturing mechanics, machinists and suppliers designing and developing low cost design and manufacturing methods. Terry earned his mechanical engineering degree at University of Wyoming.

 

Rod Schlabach

Director of Engineering

Rod Schlabach, Director of Engineering, leads the technical team that has developed the LucidPipe Power System. Rod is a tenacious problem solver, driven by solving the unique technical challenges required to develop a reliable renewable energy system.  Trained as a mechanical engineer, Rod possesses a solid knowledge of electrical engineering, electromechanical rotating machinery and fluid dynamics. During his 20-year career in the automotive industry, he gained extensive experience in quality systems, failure mode and effects analysis, and worked in conjunction with manufacturing to cost effectively design and build products. Rod has several patents and patents pending both for Lucid and previous employers. He earned his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University in Indiana.

Mike Temple

CFO, Director of Operations

Mike Temple, CFO, Director of Operations brings 20 years of proven leadership in helping companies successfully plan and manage growth as a CFO, COO and CEO. Mike has defined the accounting/finance functions of eight different companies, setting their accounting and financial reporting procedures both domestically and internationally. He has created and managed long-term financial forecasts for more than a dozen businesses and is accustomed to linking strategic initiatives with annual operating plans and budgets. He has organized and led outreach and presentations to both institutional and private investors to raise capital in excess of $10 million. Mike and Gregg worked together from 1990-1997 where they successfully turned around an innovative medical device company. The company grew over 30% and increased returns to shareholders by over 40% per year by commercializing new technology, much of which was marketed through channel partners. Mike earned a BS in accounting from University of Portland.
