Thanks to everyone who attended the Lucid Energy Center of Excellence Launch in Riverside, CA.

On April 26, we celebrated the opening of our Center of Excellence in California at Riverside Public Utilities (RPU) in Riverside, California – the first installation of the LucidPipe Power system in the United States. The installation was funded through a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the United States Department of Energy’s Waterworks Division.

A single 42-inch turbine operating inside a 60-inch water pipeline, the Riverside system has already produced 10 MWH of electricity, enough energy for ten homes or six miles of night lighting in the City of Riverside. This system is the fourth generation of technology that Lucid Energy has deployed at the Lemona Booster Station over the past two years, and it has been operating continuously and reliably since early January 2012. All very exciting, and all performed without disrupting the most important objective at RPU: delivering water to its residents.

About 80 people attended the Riverside Center of Excellence opening, including well-known energy and water companies Siemens, HDR, Veolia Water, NW Pipe and CH2M Hill and people from as far away as Brazil, South Africa and Turkey. Pictures of the event can be seen by clicking on this link:

The next Lucid Energy Center of Excellence, with San Antonio Water System in San Antonio, Texas, will break ground later this year. We are also working with the Advanced Energy Technology and Research Center, New York’s leading energy research and development center, on a third Center of Excellence in New York.
