Recycling products otherwise destined for disposal in landfills or at sea we can significantly reduce the amount of physical waste.  Recycling also saves money and energy by avoiding the necessity of finding new material.

Aluminum is a perfect example of a recyclable element. Soda cans are made of aluminum because it is relatively inexpensive, durable, and recyclable. Recycling aluminum requires only about five percent of the energy needed to produce aluminum from bauxite!  Recycling just one can saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for 3.5 hours!.
